چکیده

Besides the static soft tissue prediction in surgery simulation, the estimation of postoperative facial mimics is another important criterion for the evaluation of surgery planning. Especially in craniofacial surgery, the realistic prediction of patient’s dynamic appearance is of utmost importance. For a realistic simulation of facial mimics at least an adequate biomechanical model of soft tissue including the mimic musculature is needed. In this paper, we present a new shape-based heuristic approach for the modeling of arbitrarily shaped muscles from tomographic data, and the estimation of basic individual facial mimics.

Simulation of dynamic orofacial movements using a constitutive law varying with muscle activation.

This paper presents a biomechanical model of the face to simulate orofacial movements in speech and non-verbal communication. A 3D finite element model, based on medical images of a subject, is presented. A hyperelastic Mooney-Rivlin constitutive law accounts for the non-linear behaviour of facial tissue. Muscle fibres are represented by piece-wise uniaxial tensile element that generate force. ...

Real-time Facial Expression Animation on An Individualized Face Using Adaptive Simulation Algorithm

This paper presents a hierarchical 3D face model of a specific person that conforms to the facial anatomy for realistic facial expression animation and a new fast algorithm for animating high-resolution facial models. Based on the accurate facial mesh reconstructed from the individual facial measurements, we develop a biomechanical face model with hierarchical structure, incorporating the skin,...

Computational Models for Animating 3D Virtual Faces

Automatic synthesis of facial animation in Computer Graphics is a challenging task and although the problem is three decades old by now, there is still not a unified method to solve it. This is mainly due to the complex mathematical model required to reproduce the visual meanings of facial expressions coupled with the computational speed needed to run interactive applications. In this thesis, t...

AN APPROACH TOWARDS WAVE CLIMATE STUDY IN THE PERSIAN GULF AND THE GULF OF OMAN: SIMULATION AND VALIDATION

This article describes the 11-year wave simulation (1992-2002) in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman using the input data derived from European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). The ECMWF 10 meter wind field and spectral wave boundary condition at 18 ْN degree are input into one of the latest versions of numerical wave models (3rd generation) after a few local modifications. ...

Realistic 3D Human Facial Animation

Construction and animation of realistic human facial models is an important research field in computer graphics. How to simulate the motions of human faces on 3D facial models in real-time to generate realistic facial expressions is still a challenge. In this paper, a technique to simulate the human facial animation realistically in real-time is presented. First of all, the 3D facial model is d...
